Support our Child & Youth Opportunities Program

Children & teenagers are the members of our society who hold an enormous potential to build the future of our countries. However, they are also the most vulnerable to social risks such as violence, drugs, gang pressure & the lack of opportunities. Bolivia has one of the highest rates of violence to women & children in Latin America.

As a result, Santa Cruz has 31 orphanages that care for some 1,500 girls & boys who have been abandoned, neglected, mistreated or abused. Conditions in these orphanages are basic & so they need all the help we can give in order to prepare them for a better future once they must leave this care & become independent at the age of 18.

Therefore, we currently work with 3 orphanages in Santa Cruz city, providing up to 60 children & teenagers (mainly girls) with the skills they need to access better social & economic opportunities & avoid becoming victims of social risks in the future. Our goal is to increase this support to at least 5 orphanages this year.

Our work includes:

• Alternative education support for primary school children who are behind in class or have other learning difficulties as a result of previous traumatic experiences
• Technical study grants for teenagers to acquire career skills, accompanied by vocational orientation & work placement
• Personal life skills training to strengthen emotional intelligence & better life decisions.
